After having had several excellent experiences with my sent-in nibs which have been modified by Anabelle, I took the decisions to drive all the way from Frankfurt to the Netherlands. Not only was I eager to meet Anabelle and Mr. Appelboom in person, but I also hat the desire to bring in my more expensive pens myself instead. The result was not only the best nibs I have ever written, but also a wonderful day in the beautiful city of Laren with as much enjoyable conversations.
I sent in my old Mabie/Todd pen for nib tuning, and Appelboom's nib specialist Anabelle did an amazing job! The pen went from being a semi-decent pen that i kept around for it's history to a great writer. I was very impressed by how much better an old and delicate nib could be made, and i recommend this to everybody.

Some people like round nibs for smoothness, I prefer Italic nibs for line variation. I have a cursive and formal/crisp italic nib both make me think of using a pencil so for those who prefer smoothness perhaps a blunt pencil is comparable to them, feedback/scratch doesn't bother me. Unfortunately not many places offer this option now BUT Fortunately Appelboom DOES, if you like line variation GO for a Italic nib cursive or crisp. IF you like your handwriting to stand out a bit then Italic nibs are the way to go. Go to Appelboom for them.
Had my beautiful double broad Pelikan M800 nib ground into a stub. I had high expectations of the Pelikan nib itself, and Appelboom's nib specialist turned it into an even more gorgeous writer than I had hoped for. If to say it is smooth is an understatement, to say it is buttery smooth is a cliché that nonetheless is apt. Thank you, Joost, for advising me of how good the BB would be as a stub.
For years I had a Montegrappa NeroUno that found little use as it skipped a lot, had hard starts and an overall poor ink flow. Mrs Anabelle Hiller did a fantastic job of fixing all of these problems. The pen now writes like a charm and can finally be used in my rotation. A big thanks to Anabelle for turning a pretty display item into a great writer.
I also enjoyed the hassle-free experience of ordering the adjustment service through the shop interface. Another one of my Italian troublemakers is already on its way.
Mrs. Anabelle Hiller did a wonderful job on my MB 149 by turning the regular medium (which I overpolished by trying to make it smoother myself) into a stub medium nib. An excellent writer now, with the line variation I wanted! Mrs. Anabelle also included a hand written note explaining the work she had done on my pen (I believe she used Diamine Oxblood), which was a lovely gesture. Many thanks to Joost and the wonderful Appelboom team! I intend to send my MB 146 - BB nib (already stubish, but somewhat scratchy) and my Pelikan M1000 - M nib to Mrs. Anabelle for smoothing and tuning to get the best out of them! Highly recommended!
