In the Avanguardia series, Montegrappa launches a new era of storytelling with the Montgolfier Limited Edition—a salute to human flight, imagination, and the daring leap into the skies. Inspired by the legendary Montgolfier brothers and their first manned balloon ascent in 1783, this pen embodies ambition, elegance, and the spirit of the Enlightenment.

Design & Craftsmanship

From sterling silver bodies cast via lost-wax techniques to intricate vermeil accents, Montgolfier is a sculptural marvel. The domed cap echoes a balloon canopy, complete with zodiac motifs surrounding a lion’s head medallion. Below, a majestic golden eagle motif soars across a sky-blue resin barrel, and the clip mimics the coiled rope of early aerostats. Each pen is individually numbered on the engine-turned finial, which evokes the weave of a balloon basket.

Italy's first pen producer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa in Italy.
