I bought an MB 149 which had rather poor ink flow. After trying to get it fixed by local "experts" I sent it to Appelboom and Annabel fixed it up really well. I'm planning to send over some of my other pens for a tuneup and other repairs as well.
I requested an CI grind and a flow adjustment on 2 Scribo EF/EEF pens. These pens are known to be gushers. Also given the nibs were already fine as they were, I was only hoping for slight improvements. But Annabel's nib mastery totally blew me away! Now the 2 pens are writing exactly the way I was hoping for. Can't recommend her enough!
I ordered a beautiful medium nib Montblanc Gold Leaf Meisterstück Le Grand and requested a crisp italic customization. It was definitely worth waiting for the nib to be ground by Appelboom's exceptionally skilled nibmeister, Anabelle.
When the pen arrived, my first writing (with the lovely blue ink remaining from the nib grind & testing) momentarily took my breath away. Despite having for years writing almost exclusively with fountain pens, I'd never experienced such immediately silky smooth writing, There are no skips or hard starts, just effortless gliding over the page - it is a daily pleasure to use. Thank you, Anabelle
Many years ago, I bought a Visconti Homo Sapiens with a problematic palladium nib. The nib customization service offered here made that pen a fantastic writter. I strongly advise this service.
I bought Pilot with FA nib as I wanted to try copperplate practice with FP. I found it quite difficult and writing was not joyful as I hoped for. I gave my pen to Appelboom and asked for smoothing a nib a bit as I´m lefthand writer. Now I can really enjoy writing.
I have two fountain pens which I liked, but with nibs a tad too broad for my handwriting, a Pelican M400 en a Waldmann pocket. The Pelican has a very fine size for my hand but even an extrafine nib is too broad for my writing. My daily pen is a Sailor professional gear slim m-f, but the pen itself is not fine for prolonged writing. The Pelican is just that. Now with the grinding of Appelboom my M400 has a perfect line for my writing and taste. The same goes for the Waldmann. No regrets here!
I can absolutely recommend this service.
My Pelikan M1000 had issues with the ink flow, Maybe the distance between the tines and the feeder was too big? Suddenly it went all dry and I couldn't do anything about it. But Appelboom could! Now it writes as it is supposed to. Thank you!
I ordered a cursive italic nib customization on a medium nib. I am very happy with the way it was done. The nib writes beautifully and is very wet. Next time, however, I will order it on a 1.1 stub for it to have more character. I am very grateful to Appelboom for offering the service at a very reasonable price.
I purchased my Diplomat Excellence A+ Bauhaus with a Fine Architect nib direct from Appelboom. I was a little nervous since this was going to be my first experience with an architect nib and I was worried about getting the writing angle correct, etc. The pen was backordered, but when it finally arrived I was really pleased. I knew I was going to love the Bauhaus, but the nib was everything I hoped it would be. Now that I've opened the "architect" door I am afraid my budget is not going to be happy.
