I had a Pilot broad nib ground as a cursive italic, and the result is excellent.
The nib has good line variation but still writes very smoothly for cursive writing.
I requested just the tuning service on another Pilot nib, which also writes very smoothly with no skips or hard starts.
I sent 4 pens to Appelboom for some nib tuning. Anabelle manages to get these nibs to write perfectly. This is the real deal guys. Don’t hesitate! Just get your less than perfect nibs tuned and you won’t regret it.
I got three pens tuned, and am so happy with the result. Good advice ahead of the order, and perfect execution of my wishes. I got one step reduction B>M, and two "forgiving cursive italics", which works super well for me as a lefty overwriter. Wetness also handled superbly. Highly recommended. Note that the prices are higher than listed here, if you grind pens that you haven't bought at Appelboom. But still good value.
I've asked for a sharp cursive italic grind and got just that - lines as sharp as one can get with a medium nib, yet the pen still glides through the page with ease. Both the grind and finishing touch are of very high standard. Little note as a grain of salt: the tines were SLIGHTLY misaligned when I got the pen. I guess this may happen from time to time during the last check. Thankfully, it required only a small adjustment I was able to do on my own within a minute.
Otherwise a great job - Anabelle (BTW - sincere apologies for misspelling your name in the note attached to the pen! I've realized my mistake when the pen was already on the way) turned my beautiful but boring vintage Sheaffer Imperial IV into a marvel. Do not hesitate to turn her over your most precious pens if you want to do a custom grind. Very professional job.

I own a Mont Blanc fountain pen which did not function to its expectations: no good ink flow, nor consistent improvement after cleaning it or having it serviced where I purchased it. At Appelboom I was pleased to find an effective service approach. Their specialist was able to find and remedy the problem, for a service fee that was reasonable and as agreed on. My fountain pen is working wonders once more, and I applaud the friendly contacts, quick as much as business approach, and the outcome which is fully to my satisfaction.
After three years of writing with my Montblanc Le Classique, the nib started to scratch the page like an angry cat. Time for some TLC! I sent my prized pen to Appleboom, and voila! A few weeks later the pen returned to me gliding across the page with the sharpness and precision of an Olympic Gold Medal ice skater.
I like my pens to write very wet. Having my Aurora gold nib tuned for increased flow makes me love and use it more. I can now see the ink glisten on the page when I put down a fresh line, even with a fine point!
