The dark blue is gorgeous in person — a deep matte that reads almost black until the light catches it, and the rose gold roll-stop and finial keep it from looking severe. Photos don't do the finish justice.
The twist mechanism is the whole point and it delivers. Half a turn and the nib glides out; reverse it and the ball valve seals everything up. It feels mechanical in the best way, solid and deliberate, and not having a cap to lose or post is a quiet luxury once you get used to it. Mine was a touch stiff to twist out of the box but loosened up within a week of regular use.
The M nib is a treat — smooth, wet enough to be a pleasure but controlled, very much the dependable Lamy 14k feel. No skipping, starts reliably for me as long as I close it snugly.
It's heavy and best balanced unposted (there's nothing to post anyway), so if you like a featherweight pen this isn't it. But as a desk-to-pocket daily writer that turns heads, it's hard to beat. No regrets.

Is the Lamy Dialog CC worth its high price? For me, absolutely. This superb pen ended my long quest for a perfect daily writer, and I have no regrets about the expense.
Its unique yet discrete design has a satisfying weight, and the capless, retractable gold nib is wonderfully smooth, though mine required a minor initial tuning to correct a "baby's bottom" issue. It succeeds where many other expensive pens failed—it's not too wet, scratchy, or flashy. It is simply a joy to use. The Dialog CC is the pen that will stop my search for a good while.
A final note: my transaction with Appelboom was excellent, with very fast delivery to the US.
I am a huge lover of capless pens. I started off with the Pilot Vanishing Point (AKA the Capless). While I love it, it does have a few shortcomings. I.e., It has a loud clicking mechanism and you can't replace the nib without buying a whole nib unit. Lamy CC essential addressed both of those points for me. Price was excellent on Appelboom and shipping was FAST.
I loved this pen. It is the only retractable nib fountain pen with a full sized nib, and it is Lamy quality. The gold tip makes it extra smooth, compared to other Lamy with steel nib. I picked the EF because I like to write really small.
All about this pen is great. When you expose the nib, there is a clear click you feel it is fully extended, that’s when you should tighten it a bit to prevent start unscrewing it when it is closed. When you close it, there will be a similar albeit slightly weaker click.
Both clicks are now diminished on my unit because I used silicon line internally, as I find the moving mechanisms to all have a crispy feeling, all my pens are lubed. It makes everything quieter (have you ever used a Parker jotter? Mine is way more silent now after some lube) and smoother. I like it better this way but it is personal.
Although the pen looks sleek without a clip, I wish they copied the vanishing point design so I coild secure the pen in my pocket or pen case with a clip. Granted I'm an individual whose grip isn't affected by the pen clip so Lamy went with a safe route that will ensure more people can use the pen.
The mechanism is smooth and intuitive so you know when to stop rotating, although you have to make sure you rotate it open all the way (or the nib will fly back in when you write) and close it all the way or a portion of the door will remain open.
It's a much heavier pen than my vanishing points, but still comfortable for short sessions.
Received the pen about three weeks after order. The pen has a nice feel in the hand. Comfortable but it has girth. Not too heavy, actually I prefer the weight.
The nib unit at first was a little stiff but after using it for a few days got very smooth. The nib tends to dry after sitting for two days retracted. I am planning on trying a wetter ink on the next fill. Overall this pen is well made, German engineering at its best. A little pricey but generally if you love fountain pens it is worth the price.
I’ll probably use this pen for a daily writer because it is so cool.

I've always been partial to unique designs; especially retractable fountain pens. The original Dialog is one of my go to pens and this has been a nice addition to the collection. It looks great and writes really well. It is nice and smooth and glides across the page.
