The nib work was perfect. I sent it for a cursive itallic grind in the hopes of making my Lamy 2000 my daily pen. Mission accomplished I must say! Can’t stop using it! Highly recommend the service
I had a beautiful special edition of a Montblanc fountain pen but it wrote a bit too broad as a medium. Preferring fine and even extra fine nibs I took my chance with Appelboom and it was an excellent decision. I already liked writing with the pen, but now I love writing with it. I absolutely agree with all the positive reviews on their nib customization. Wonderful work they did.
Appelboom's nibmeister did a great job on my Pilot Custom 845 Urushi Vermillion medium, grinding it to a very smooth cursive italic, it writes with a touch of expression, just what I wanted, well done.
I ordered a new Aurora pen, and although Aurora offers a very large selection of nib options, I wanted something different - a "mini stub". On the recommendation of Mr Appelboom I ordered the pen with a F nib and then requested a stub nib grind to be applied to it.
I got exactly what I wanted. The nib goes from about a Japanese EF to a M. The result, especially in cursive writing, is subtle but unmissable.
The best part is that the nib still has that unmistakable Aurora slight feedback to it. If Aurora made a mini stub nib this is what it would feel like on paper.
I am extremely happy with the result. Excellent service by Appelboom, as always.
The nib customization is perfect. It looks and writes like it was always italic. I sent in a Pelikan M8xx Fine Point. The italicization is subtle but elegant. If I were going to do this again for a Pelikan nib, I'd start with a medium and not a fine to make the italic writing more bold.
After looking in to trying to send the nib from the US to Netherlands on my own for >$100 and a bunch of customs paperswork, I asked Joost what to do and he let me use his returns shipping for $40 with no customs complications so getting the pen to him for the work was very easy.
The nib custmization of my Visconti gold nib is outstanding. The ink flow and feel are exactly what I hoped for, even with the challenges Visconti nibs can present. Every Appelboom custimization I've had has delivered excellent results. If your unsure about trying this service, I highly recommend it.
Really happy with the customer and nibmeister services! They fixed my Pilot Custom Urushi and now writes so well that I'm considering sending them more pens for some fine tuning.
I recently ordered an Onoto pen with a steel #7 nib. My everyday handwriting is italic, so I buy pens with italic or stub nibs when available. Onoto does not provide stock stub nibs, so I ordered a Broad nib and had it custom ground to cursive italic. My experience with Appelboom's nib technician has been uniformly excellent and this was no exception.
