For me, although I really liked the writing experience of the original black version, I never liked the look of it. The Bauhaus but industrial styling just isn't for me. This version is however such a great looking pen. Simple changes make a big difference. Still the same great writing experience. Very smooth nib with good wet flow.
Time-honored classic minimalist design. The gold nib writes smoothly on paper. The weight is appropriate. Definitely, it should be one of the pens that you carry around. I'm satisfied with it and the shipping service of this firm. Strong recommended for pen lovers!

I like a lot the LAMY 2000 Steel edition (medium nib), the feeling is very soft when you write on a quality paper (Rhodia, Clairfontaine...)
The pen is well balanced in the hand and the finish brushed of the metal body is perfect for a good grip.
One of my favourite pen for everyday use :-)

This a classic. M nib delivers a good amount of ink (Pelikan 4001 royal blue), the making is immaculate and it feels heavy and cool. You love or hate the design, if you love it, go for the steel one :-)
Right handed with large hands -- using the Lamy 2000 Steel with O2B nib: filled it with ink and started writing -- soooo smooth, the nib glides on the page. Weight feels great. Very wet. So much so, that I compared to MB 149 O3B nib and noticed that the Lamy is broader on paper, almost marker like. The MB has greater line variation because of the thinner strokes it can achieve. Even tested on 260g paper. If I had to select one, I'd choose the O3B nib because the written word has greater variation. That said, the Lamy O2B that I have has a thicker (but not wider) nib endpoint than the 149 explaining its broadness so not sure if this is standard on all O2B nibs. Prefer the weight, appearance and design of the Lamy. Very different experience to the 149 because of the weight which gives it a sense of solidity. Finally, there is residual ink that is left on the steel sheath overhanging the nib after inking but I'm sure there are creative ways to remove the ink completely.
Lamy 2000 is a must have pen for every Fountain pen lover. It is lovely daily writer and offers seamless writing. This steel option is beautiful and looks very premium. As always buying from appelboom is always advantageous. So go ahead and buy.
