Appleboom professionals work finely. Their nib specialist is a true craftswoman. I sent them a Parker Duofold Inernational, with a needle point nib, to align and smooth the nib, a job outside of current industry standards, and I received it like new, working excellently. They did an artisan and well executed work.
I am very satisfied with the architect nib grind I got on the medium steel nib on my Leonardo Moment Magico. It writes like I imagined it would, smooth and with perfect wetness for me. On the reverse side of the nib, it writes with an extra fine line that also is excellent. This makes it good for paper of lesser quality or if I need to write small. I feel that I received the nib grind I asked for. I think that this really shows the skills of this person.
I can really recommend Anabelle Hillers work. If you are interested in a custom nib grind, please don’t hesitate to use the nib customization that is offered by Appelboom. I will come back for sure.

I started collecting fountain pens in 1977. These were first the cheaper pens because of budget limits. My first expensive pen was in 1995 a Montbanc 147 Traveller, M nib. It was an excellent writer out-of-the box. I accidently dropped it in 2000, The nib was bent and the pen unusable. I sent it to an American nib meister for repair. The whole matter took several months and after paying an amount equal to the price of another nice fountain pen it came back, fixed, It was writing again, but far too wet. It stayed in my drawer for many years, as I was focusing on collecting other nice pens. After discovering Appelboom and being very pleased with their customer service, it was time to give the MB147 nib another try. Anabelle did a wonderful job on the nib. The MB147 now writes exactly as it came out of the box 27 years ago. I am very grateful.
Thanks to the nibmeister of Appelboom! I somehow damaged the nib of my very beloved Pelikan M800 during cleaning. My local dealer couldn‘t fix it. Therefore I decided to send my pen to Appelboom for repair. During the waiting time I decided to let it grind for one step down. The service with Appelboom was smooth and easy as usual. Cursive italic is my every day handwriting, so when I purchase a pen that does not come with an acceptable italic nib, I have a broad nib custom ground. I have had several nibs ground to cursive italic by Appelboom's nib specialist, including the latest - a Scribo Feel. These nibs are without exception outstanding writers - both smooth and crisp. Cannot thank enough Annabelle and Joost, for the absolutely amazing work to tune and adjust my 3 pens! They are now just so perfect and the magical touch of Annabelle helped to have my pilot 823, vintage waterman write to perfection. Just share what really makes your writing feel the best and Annabelle can advice and tune the nib. I cannot imagine better exp. And Joost as always very customer caring. I recently ordered an Architect Nib to be delivered on an Opus 88 Bela Brown.
I submitted the required photos of my pen grip after some polite reminders from the Appelboom team. (My original submission was lacking in photographic talent. :))
When the pen and nib arrived I could not have been happier with the results. I have several architect nibs purchased on the internet from Chinese suppliers but the quality of the grind and performance of my Appelboom nib is far, far superior.
Strangely, I find the architect nibs make my handwriting neater and with the Appelboom nib it is remarkable. And it is a pleasure to write with the nib which has a very satisfying degree of feedback.
I am looking forward to many more days of writing with my excellent Opus 88 Bela Brown and its excellent architect nib.
thank you annabelle for your work, i dont know how you do it with just looking at a few pictures of my writing but the oblique turned out exactly as i wanted. i was confident in leaving it with you given the excellent job you did in the past with another pen. your communication was excellent and looking at the nib under a loupe - a very nice oblique cut indeed!
