Experience the fusion of traditional Japanese artistry and exceptional craftsmanship with the Sailor 1911 King of Pens Ringless Ukiyo-e Tominomori Sukeemon-Masakata Fountain Pen. This limited edition pen, part of Sailor's prestigious King of Pens series, pays homage to the legendary samurai Tominomori Sukeemon-Masakata, a central figure in the historic Ako Incident. The pen's design is inspired by Utagawa Kuniyoshi's ukiyo-e woodblock print, capturing the essence of Edo-period artistry.

Artisanal Craftsmanship with Iwate Urushi Lacquer

Each pen is meticulously handcrafted using Iwate Urushi lacquer, sourced from the renowned Johoji region in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. This region is celebrated for producing approximately 80% of Japan's lacquer, with harvesting techniques recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The application of Taka Maki-e—a technique involving layering lacquer with charcoal and tin powders—creates a raised, three-dimensional effect, bringing the samurai's image to life on the pen's surface.

Design Features and Symbolism

  • Ringless Design: The pen features a sleek, ringless barrel and cap, emphasizing its elegant simplicity.
  • Ebonite Construction: Crafted from high-quality ebonite, the pen offers a warm, comfortable grip.
  • 21K Gold Nib: Equipped with an oversized 21-karat gold nib, providing a smooth and luxurious writing experience.
  • Limited Edition: This fountain pen is part of a limited release, ensuring its exclusivity and collectible value.

Cultural Significance
